The Health and Safety Executive consists of myself, Brian Blouse, Head of Facilities Management and Bernard Soddum, the Head Manager of Facilities.

Together, we manage a rolling programme of Health and Safety priority assessment and strategic implementation within a global community structure of management implementation and structural management under the umbrella structure of the St. Cretien’s Health and Safety Works Committee (HSWC).

In a place like St. Cretien’s, where the safety of the pupils and staff is paramount, there is a great deal of emphasis placed on Health and Safety, and the HSWC is frankly dogged in its implementation of these necessary regulations, which serve to make St. Cretien’s a pleasant and safe environment in which to work. It should be added that in the school year 2008-2009, there was a total of only 14 serious injuries on the school site, only five of which resulted in permanent scarring or disabilities, and a mere 45 lesser incidents, most of which were down to incorrect assumptions in the individual’s own risk assessments. We pride ourselves on this record, and see it as a direct result of the best practice pursued by Bernard and myself.
